This project is an inexpensive, easy-to-use, wireless head mouse. The shell is 3D printed and features a clip to put it on a headband or glasses frame.
To use the device, charge it up via USB-C. Once it's charged, turn it on, then pair it via Bluetooth connection. It should show up as "The Vizsla."
Move your head up, down, left, or right to move the mouse accordingly. If you sip in on the straw, you right-click. If you puff out on the straw, you left-click. To latch either of the buttons, just continuously use it. So if you want to latch left-click, just puff out for about a second, then sip in to release it. The opposite also works.
The shell has a luer lock built on, and you connect a hydrophobic syringe filter, then a silicone tube. This filter prevents germs, moisture, and anything else from getting inside of the barometric pressure sensor.
This is version two, the version that focuses on sip-and-puff controls. Version 1 focuses on gesture controls.
How to Set Up The Vizsla
Once you've received the device, connect the silicone tubing to the hydrophobic filter, to the smaller end. Charge The Vizsla via USB-C for about an hour before using it.
When it's charged, turn it on (it doesn't have to be on your head or anything yet), then connect to it via your computer's Bluetooth connection.
Once you've paired it successfully, turn it off. Before you put it on, make sure it's oriented properly. The tubing and filter should face away from you and toward the screen. The USB port should be pointing behind you. (This is important as otherwise it will get its sensors confused and pick up drift.)
Put it on your glasses, visor, headband, etc., then turn it on. This is when you'd want to connect the filter with the tubing on it to the luer lock on the device. Just turn it clockwise (righty-tighty, lefty-loosey)
It takes it a few seconds to calibrate itself and make note of its position, but you may notice the mouse "jitters" a little bit to indicate that it has taken control.
When you're done, make sure to remove the filter by unthreading it before you turn off the switch so you don't break the shell, as it can be a tight fit.
Happy mouse-ing!
