I figured starting a blog section would be a good idea so people know what the heck I'm working on and such.
Over the weekend, I was trying to sleep, and I got to thinking about how I name my projects. I always tried to give them very basic, very obvious names, but I wasn't sure why. I mean, Razer has the Naga, the Tartarus, and stuff like that. Can you tell me what they do without looking them up? So in keeping with the theme, I decided I would name each project after a breed of dog. Plus, it's fun to be able to say, "Yeah, this is The Pointer from Doggone Accessible, and it's a head mouse." I've still got descriptions of everything, but I love dogs, and I wanted to maintain theme, ya know?
Project Updates:
The Great Pyrenees is done! Shoutout to Dillan for approaching me with the idea in the first place. The initial idea wasn't there, but we kept iterating and trying until we got something that will work with his carpal tunnel. It's a 15 key keypad with an analog joystick that emulates WASD. When you plug it in, it shows up as a USB keyboard, so there's compatibility with just about everything, including Fortnite on PS4 (which is the main console game that matters, obviously)!
The Vizsla is nearly done in its wireless form! The biggest issue I'd been facing was in the calibration. If the device was hooked up via USB, it had one set of calibrations, but when it connected via Bluetooth, it acted totally different. Things have become more intuitive, but I'm still fighting the drift, which is a sign there's a problem with the magnetometer (it's a compass sensor, just with a fancy name). Once I crack that, I think it will be totally ready for shipping. I found a good deal on batteries for it too, so that will be a good time. Sourcing batteries from Amazon kind of sucks.Â
I think that's everything for now, but I'll update if anything changes today. Thanks again for everyone's support! I couldn't do this without ya. -VCRchitect
